Many psychologists over the years have discussed whether evil is a trait which people are born with, or a trait which is acquired from the environment. This issue is still vague even today, as there is no scientific consensus about the source of evil. I think that evil is something that we acquire from our environment.
The first explanation is biological. Our body consists of milliards of DNA molecules. The Gene is a part of one DNA molecule. The Genes contain our genetic code, which is actually a code that determines our phenotypic traits: our eyes' color, height and more. Evil is a trait which isn't phenotypic, it is a trait which is associated with personality. So scientifically, it's impossible to claim that people are born evil, while there is no gene which contains information about our personality.
The second explanation is social. A child is like clay in the potter's hand, in this case the parents' hands. With close parental supervision, the child will probably grow to know what behavior is considered as evil, so he won't behave in this way. But without parental guidance , the child will grow without knowing what's wrong and what's right. He will just do whatever he wants, being evil sometimes without even knowing. Add negative peer pressure when the child turns into a teen, and you've got the perfect formula for being evil.
